About us
The Maine-Anjou Research Group is a French multidisciplinary team of clinician-scientists aiming to advance precision medicine in ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) and immune-mediated glomerulonephritis. To decipher these complex autoimmune kidney diseases, whose course remains difficult to predict, we combine large-scale clinical cohorts and real-world evidence with high-resolution multi-omics and experimental models we develop in the laboratory.
Led by Prof. Jean-François Augusto and Prof. Benoît Brilland, the team builds on the Maine-Anjou AAV-GN Registry and on a network of French and international partners to investigate the determinants of renal and patient outcomes. By linking our clinical observations to molecular mechanisms, biomarkers, and systems immunology, we aim to refine prognostic stratification, identify novel therapeutic targets, and deliver more personalized patient care.
Research areas
Cohorts, registries & real-world data
Within the multicenter Maine-Anjou AAV-GN Registry and beyond: natural history, prognostic factors and long-term outcomes, including after transplantation.
Biobanks, omics & multi-omics
Biobanked samples linked to clinical phenotypes, analysed with omics and multi-omics approaches to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
In vitro & in vivo models
Experimental testing of the mechanisms suggested by patient data, from cell-based assays to murine models of vasculitis being established in the laboratory.
Interventional research & trials
Academic and industry-sponsored phase II and III clinical trials, alongside interventional research projects designed and led by the team.
